She started her career as a development engineer at Telco now known as Tata Motors and even taught computer science at Bangalore University. Besides, being the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, she is also an eminent author and has founded several orphanages, participated in rural development efforts, supported the movement to provide all Karnataka government schools with computer and library facilities, and established the ‘The Murty Classical Library of India’ at Harvard University.
